Welcome to Cornerstones Cottage
Situated in the delightful quiet village of Gamblesby, CUMBRIA nestling under the Pennines not far from Cross Fell, Cornerstones cottage is well situated to explore all the attractions of the Eden Valley and its neighbouring regions.
The accommodation sleeps four adults with one double and one twin bedded room.
Walkers will enjoy the miles of bridleways and footpaths and the more adventurous may venture onto the Pennine tops. (Properly equipped for the weather can change quite suddenly!)
Cyclists can enjoy endless miles of the quiet lanes around the Eden Valley and fell-side. Numerous Sustrans routes including the C2C pass this way.
Not far away you can visit the Lake District National Park (30min) and the area around Hadrians Wall and the Scottish Borders (40min) The cottage is roughly equidistant between the town of Alston high in the Pennines and the market town of Penrith with its closeness to transport (railway and M6), shops and the Lake District National Park. The view from the Hartside Pass just above the village is stunning and the route from Penrith to Alston(A686) is referred to by the AA as one of the WORLD’S 10 best drives!. There are many local attractions which you can investigate and we supply links to some of them on the page “Out and about”
When you return after an active and interesting day sampling the many delights of the area you can return to a warm and comfortable cottage. In the summer there are pleasant evening walks along the lanes and in the winter you can cosy up to an open fire. All fuel is included.
